Yesterday my husband-the-great bought me my new addition: a Canon 60D.... I'm a proud mama. Although this new beauty will create even more stunning photos, I am still holding on strong to my first love, a simple, yet very amazing Rebel T3. It's simplicity and ease of use have never failed me and have created the obsessive photographer I am today!
That husband of mine. . . he bought me my T3 almost a year ago at a pawn shop, pretty much just to shut me up. I wanted to spring into a different realm of photography, something venturing far from a point and shoot. And he fed into that dream.
She has gotten me from at home photos to portraits, from family birthday parties to weddings. Reading this, you would think I'm writing about some sacred object or some influential individual. NOPE! I'm talking about a contraption made out of metal, plastic, glass, and magic. Something that, within my hands, helps me to create memories. Something that has taken me from a dream into a reality.
I probably sound very crazy, but then again. . . I was never one to be plain and boring.
This past Sunday I went out early in the morning to shoot an unconventional shoot. . . a super sweet Smash Cake/Bath Time session!
I had so much fun shooting little Gage as he carefully ate his cake., This kid was so careful with the frosting, that mom had to help him by dipping his leg into the cake. He loved it! We follow this up by giving him an equally fun & messy bath in his big blue tub. He messed up some of his mom's hair and got bubbles on his head!
I always enjoy shooting Gage. I got tons of giggles and squeals of delight from this little man and I can't wait to see him blow out his candle for the first time.
Yes, I I have accomplished great things. Yes, I have also walked away from great things.
BUT, I am walking right back, pulling the reigns and taking control of my life.
Last night I didn't go to kickboxing because I didn't get out of work until well after the class started. I went to the gym and hit the treadmill as usual after a long day, and I might have been expecting a bit much.
Usually I run three miles in 25 minutes. Last night, I couldn't even run the whole time but did 5 minute intervals... It took me 15 minutes to do 1.5 miles. That is sad. I am angry with myself because I've given up and haven't found the motivation to restart. I began training for a couple of reasons: the mud run this past October and my own health. I need to find another run, get a shirt that says, "I'm running towards Channing Tatum" and get my but in gear!
Any encouragement is welcome! :)
Not having enough picture frames to show off your pretty photos is never fun! A quick & easy DIY project to fix this issue is a string display. If you have some actual wire and little clothes pins on hand, it would actually look even better! For now, I've cleaned up a drawer full of pictures by displaying them like this!
All you need is:
• String, wire, etc.
•little clothes pins, paper clips, or any other type of reinforcing object you'd like to use
•lots of your favorite pictures
Now put it all together and display wherever you'd like! It's as easy as that. Have fun creating your own masterpiece :)
My incredible Superhero husband went out in the 120 degree garage this past Sunday and took apart pallets for my lemonade stand. lets set the scene: he was dripping sweat from his eyelashes. Now that's a loving hubby!
We measured, cut, and rearranged the wood boards and painted... Completing the front of the stand!
We really truly wanted to finish the entire thing in one chunk, but the almighty gods of the sun would not allow it! They said nay nay!
So we will be doing a second round this weekend while its raining and storming. I just wanted to say how truly commited we are to creating a unique scene for such a fun shoot! I enjoy seeing satisfaction on my clients faces', I think it's my soul's battery pack.
I have a fun shoot coming up this weekend as well! A SmashCake session with a beautiful blue eyed one year old. This kid LOVES the camera so I am in for a treat! •
